Cats are wonderful pets that really make a house a home. However it is very common for people to suffer from a cat allergy.

Allergy Symptoms

If you do suffer from a cat allergy then you will know how just how much the symptoms can impact on your daily life. Symptoms can include:

* Wheezing
* Difficulty breathing
* Runny nose
* Itchy eyes
* Hives

Cat allergies can also exacerbate other existing conditions such as asthma. This can make symptoms much worse and really have an impact on the sufferer’s quality of life.

Why are People Allergic to Cats?

The main allergen found in cats is actually a protein molecule. This is present in their salvia and sebaceous glands. When cats groom themselves they can spread this molecule all over their skin and fur. This means that the allergen can contaminate homes, clothing and bedding through the shedding of fur and skin cells. This is why people can suffer allergic reactions even if the cat is not in the same room.

You can buy kits to test if you have a cat allergy. These are a good idea to identify exactly what is making you react so you can get the right treatments.

Effective Natural Treatments

Fortunately there are some effective natural treatments available if you do have a cat allergy. These treatments can help to relieve symptoms and may prevent them from reoccurring in the future.

* Avoidance – if you do suffer from a cat allergy then try and avoid contact with these animals if you can. If you do visit a place that has cats then wash your clothes and your shoes when you get home again.
* House Cleaning – if you do have a cat then you can reduce the amount of allergens in your home with regular cleaning and vacuuming. Make sure you buy a good quality vacuum that can offer allergy filters. This will help to trap the allergens as you hoover so they can be disposed of outside the home. Restrict your cat to as few rooms as possible and keep them out of your bedrooms.
* Cat Grooming – grooming your cat every day can help to remove loose fur and dander. This will help to prevent it building up in your home. Brush the cat outside if possible or in a place where you can vacuum up afterwards.

Author Resource:- If you have a cat allergy then there are many natural ways you can reduce the symptoms. This means you will not have to rely completely on medication that could have side effects.
