Would you like to make your own cupcake toppers? It is really easier than you think!

Here is a little tutorial on how to make Cupcake Toppers. You just need to visit your craft store, to gather all sorts of paper punches, ribbons, embellishments, and scrapbook paper to make unique Cupcake Toppers for cake decorations. Here are designs in circle and scallops punches, but you can of course try almost all kinds of paper punches for this project.

This is what you need:
Paper punches 2″. You can use the size you find right for your cupcakes.
Glue stick
Hot glue gun
Scrapbook or craft paper
Ribbons
Pair of scissors
Cookie or lollipop sticks (wood or paper)

Optional:
Crepe paper
Needle & cotton thread
3D adhesive foam squares

Embellishments: Scrap-booking brads, paper scraps , beads, etc.

Following are the simple steps to make it:

Step 1:
Take a craft paper and cut it out two paper circles with the paper punches. Make sure that one of them is a little smaller. Stick them together with a glue stick.
Step 2:
Now glue the lollipop stick on the back with the use of a hot glue gun. Your cupcake paper topper is now ready to be decorated.

Here are some more examples, on how you can go for cake decoration with paper toppers!
Example 1:
You can use scrap-booking brads. Make a small hole in the center of the paper circle and place the brads on it with a little dot of glue on the back.

Example 2:

Crepe paper ruffles, adorn these cupcake toppers. You can cut a strip of crepe paper and make a simple stitch through it. Pull and the strip would make pretty ruffles. You may need to trim it a little afterwards with a pair of your scissors.

Example 3:
You can also use a small cut out paper decoration and attach it with 3D adhesive foam squares.
Step 3:
All the cupcake toppers now need some pretty ribbon, tied into a little bow. You can stick the bow in place, with a little craft glue, just below the knot. Your simple though beautiful home made cupcake toppers are now ready to be used.
