The success of the latest version of the fantastic story by Lewis Carroll that featured Alice and her slew of odd friends inspired a new bunch of Halloween costumes for people to choose from. The lineup of characters in the story and the recent adaptation by Tim Burton has given individuals great ideas for an Alice in Wonderland costume or two for Halloween.
When you are thinking of making an Alice in Wonderland costume for your child to go trick-or-treating in or if you are wondering which of the characters from the book or movie would best suit you, there are few things you may need to consider. First off, you have to think about the gender of your chosen character in the story and who will be wearing the costume of this character. For example, if you are thinking of the Queen of Hearts, you cannot have a small boy or a man wear a costume depicting that particular character.
The second thing you need to consider is the amount you can spend for the costume. Some costumes may cost more than others, if you are really considering making ones that are true to the character you are copying. The third thing to consider before you choose any Alice in Wonderland costume is which version of the story are you copying your costume from? Are you thinking of the newest version or are you thinking of the cartoon version that came out in 1951?
Once you have thought things out it is then time to decide which character from the story you or your child will be dressed as. There are not that many choices when it comes to female characters in the story and quite a number when it comes to the male characters. The more interesting characters to choose from when it comes to the male characters in the story include the Mad Hatter, the White Rabbit, Tweedle Dee or Tweedle Dum, the Cheshire Cat and the Caterpillar, to name some of the more famous ones.
If you were to choose a female costume from the story, you might want to consider an Alice in Wonderland costume depicting you or your child as Alice, one that shows you as the Queen of Hearts or maybe even the White Queen. Of course, there are some male characters that women can go in as well. For example, you can easily dress up your daughter or even yourself as the Cheshire Cat, complete with pink makeup and pink striped suit, just like the cat in the Disney classic. You can also choose to dress yourself or your child up as one of the chess pieces or the playing cards that were also featured in the story.
These many options you have from the story may confuse you when time comes for you to decide. This is where the budget for your costume comes in. The simpler the costume, the less it will cost. Examples of cheaper choices when it comes to an Alice in Wonderland costume include the playing card costume, the Mad Hatter and Alice herself.
